What a plan! A life changing adventure for both you and your daughter. Having this degree will absolutely increase your marketability. I only hear good things about Costa Rica. Plus, if you don't already speak Spanish, you and your daughter could be bilingual masters!

I too have always dreamed of living in a foreign country. I will not do it when I have to teahc though. I am thinking more wehn I am retired and more than one residence. haha! I feel like when my kids are adults, I can go off and then travel around and visit. I dabbled with that idea before I had kids but now that I do, it will wait. I love it. Congrats on your plan!!

You know we're all IN to visit you! Glad you thought through the whole spare bedroom thing for us! I LOVED my time in Costa Rica and I only got to stay in one part of it for a short period of time! Sloths, tropics, jungle, beaches, delicious fruits...need we say more? I missed out on the opportunities for studying abroad in high school or college so your plan sounds amazing! If there's anything I've learned from this pandemic chaos, it's life is short and we need to live out BEST lives. What's the point if we aren't living it up and reaching to make our dreams a reality! Any school would be a fool to NOT hire you! Be sure to send me a postcard wherever your dreams take you!

I too have thought about getting my TESOL certification and teaching abroad. I looked at teaching in other states as well and was very disappointed by the wide range of requirements to teach in other states. Having a master's degree was required in many states to teach anything.
